Quitter!

Jeremiah 23:17-18

They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’ For who among them has stood in the council of the Lord to see and to hear his word, or who has paid attention to his word and listened?

Yet another piece of Bible prophesies that lives today.

I think about all the scoffers and non believers who down play God and my religion as some mythological comic book super hero type scam. I think of those who will tell you there is no God, no Supreme Being, force or entity.  Those who will tell you it’s all just a sequence of haphazard events as you go through life, so don’t worry you have nothing to answer to on a moral level.

I will wager you this, every person you have ever talked to, heard speak or person you know who rejects God has never taken the time and effort to find and know God.

I don’t want to hear “Oh yes I did.  I went to church when I was a kid.  My parents dragged me there and I believed.  Then something awful happened and I said well there must not be a God because how could God let something awful happen,”

That’s just an immature copout.

Most who say this have never actually read the Bible and if they did they didn’t read it again and again.  They lacked the patience and desire to understand and learn for themselves what the Bible has to say.

You don’t learn about God in a few years.

To stand in the council of the Lord and to see and to hear his words takes a lifetime.

You don’t get it by watching the talking heads on TV, religious or secular.

I don’t have a full understanding of God.  But each day, month, year as I read and reread my Bible and as I honestly look at what it says and what I am doing, I gain another little piece of understanding.

I like to think that each day I get a little closer to standing in the council of the Lord.

To me rejecting God is saying I quit.  It’s saying it takes too much work; it’s too hard and requires too much honesty for me to understand God, to be able to stand in the council of the Lord.

It’s easier to just believe its all haphazard so what’s the point it will be what it will be no matter what I do.

Understanding God takes work, hard, honest work. It takes a life time of work.

So to everyone out there who rejects God I say, “quitter”.
