A Prophesy For Today

Amos 5:11-12

Therefore because you trample on the poor
and you exact taxes of grain from him,
you have built houses of hewn stone,
but you shall not dwell in them;
you have planted pleasant vineyards,
but you shall not drink their wine.
For I know how many are your transgressions
and how great are your sins—
you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe,
and turn aside the needy in the gate.

Amos is talking about the rulers and high priests of his time but he could walk through a time portal, emerge on the other side today and utter these same words.  These verses would be as true today as they were when they were written.

When I wrote this post in my journal I had no idea what day it would actually be posted on my blog.  I had no idea where we would be in this year’s presidential election, but I do know that no matter who wins or loses these words will still carry the same amount of truth.

Just know this, as I have said before, the rulers have been the same for over 5000 years and it’s not going to change.

I take solace in my belief in these words:

you have built houses of hewn stone,
but you shall not dwell in them;
you have planted pleasant vineyards,
but you shall not drink their wine.
For I know how many are your transgressions
and how great are your sins—

I’ll just concentrate on my own attempts to walk in righteousness while eating, drinking and being happy in my toil.
