Images Of Silicon, Copper And Plastic

Hosea 4:12

My people inquire of a piece of wood and their walking staff gives them oracles.  For a spirit of whoredom has led them astray, and they have left their God to play the whore.

As usual I must say here is something written thousands of years ago and it’s as true today as it was when it was written.

My people inquire of a piece of wood…..

Just substitute electronics for wood and you will understand what Hosea was talking about.

In his time Hosea was referring to how the Israelites were taking after the foreigners they had assimilated with.  He was speaking of how they took to praying, asking for blessing, sacrificing to and worshiping carved wooden idols.

He’s talking about how they sold themselves and their souls to what they thought was the easy way to survive.  They didn’t want to work and be disciplined to seek their true God.  They didn’t want to spend a life time of learning and working at their religion and they didn’t want to be outcasts from their foreign friends.

So they figured why not just make a god that fits our needs and we can instantly feel good about ourselves.

We do the same thing today except it’s not wood, it’s silicon, copper and plastic.

We pick our gods from the TV, monitor, or smartphone.

We let the images tell us what to do, how to think.  We let the images show us how to do nothing more than sell your soul and become the envy of your nation.

The media gives us oracles that we worship.  Easy oracles for easy lives and we shape our lives and our families around the oracles from silicon, copper and plastic.

We have developed our spirit of whoredom by chasing whatever is the easiest and following whoever tells us what we want to hear.

The electronic images carved by silicon, copper and plastic have become our gods.  These images of false gods preach to us without any semblance of knowledge or purpose.

We sacrifice our being to electronic images and feed the false gods’ egos as we whore after them.

We inquire of wood (silicon, copper, plastic) and play the whore.
