“The fool will no more be called noble, nor the scoundrels said to be honorable.”
When I read that verse I had to write it down. I guess I wrote it down because it gives me some hope.
I thought here is another example of the prophecies of the Bible that apply today and probably throughout the existence of mankind. I thought about how hopeful I am that this is prophetic about Washington DC, for Washington has become nothing but a town of fools and scoundrels.
Fools in the sense of how foolish these people are in their own self importance. They are not stupid people just foolish people.
And scoundrels, I think you would be hard press to find one that isn’t a scoundrel.
I think about DC and I think about Abraham’s plea to God to save Sodom in Genesis 18:16-33.
God wants to destroy Sodom but Abraham says hey what if I can find fifty good guys in there, what then Lord? God says OK show me fifty and I’ll let it go.
But Abraham realizes finding fifty righteous men or women in this town might be a stretch so he bargains it down to just ten righteous, good guys, just ten in all of Sodom.
Archeologist estimate the population of Sodom was somewhere between 600 and 1200 and Abraham couldn’t find one righteous dude in the whole place.
Gee, take the House of Representatives, the Senate, the Judicial and Executive branch and you’re probably somewhere between 600 and 1200 people.
I bet your chances of finding ten righteous people are about as good as Abraham’s in Sodom.
So I trust in this verse to someday come true.
It proves no matter how much things change they stay the same.
As King Solomon said “There is nothing new under the sun.”
